For years, I did everything “right”. I loved my liver, prioritized my microbiome and followed the strict rule, no leftovers and if it doesn’t go in the compost bin, it doesn’t go within or on our human animal. Yet, I was still dying inside.
What I discovered changed my life and it will change yours: your worth is not in the push. It is in the pause and the paws for your human animal.
The Canary in the Coal Mine
Many of us who are type-A, sober vegan athletes, healers and high-sensing feelers are actually biological prophets. We became the “third parent” to emotionally unavailable parents, which conditioned us into a lifetime of people-pleasing, problem-solving and a perma-smile.
But our bodies are highly tuned. We hear, smell, feel and sense everything. We are warning systems for environmental danger, toxic souls, mould and sick building syndrome. Because many of us were born into a toxic womb to a stressed mother, we inherited her high-alert nervous system.
By age 40, this constant state of threat leaves us with 40+ leaky body barriers (including leaky gut) and a locked Cell Danger Response. Chronic stress is the root of all dis-ease.
I needed glasses at age 40, leaky eyes and I no longer need glasses at 59.5 and my cells are 41.
Returning to Biological Stillness
If you have lived with a bloated belly, insomnia, acute pain, deep exhaustion or misophonia (a high sensitivity to sounds that signals the brain into a state of panic), you are not alone. When I was in crisis and near death and the broken OHIP system in Ontario could not help me, I stopped pushing. I chose biological stillness for 40 days in bed.
