🌀 Day 14 – Leaky Scalp & Silent Storms
Skin & Immune Storms | #4 of 8 in the Leaky Body Syndrome Series
"If your hair is falling out, your immune system may be too." — Dee
💭 Did you know?
Your scalp is skin.
Your hair is a health report.
And chronic itching, flaking or hair loss aren’t just cosmetic issues — they’re internal signals that something deeper is inflamed.
I used to blame it all on “aging” or “stress.”
But now I know:
This was cytokine chaos.
My immune system was inflamed. My body was screaming.
And my scalp was one of the first places to show it.
🩸 Here’s what my scalp looked like at its worst:
• Itchy, flaky and oily all at once
• Hair coming out in clumps in the shower
• Redness and tenderness behind the ears
• Hair in high ponytail to hide it all
• Dandruff shampoos that made it worse
And of course, the doctors?
They offered creams, steroids and even antidepressants.
But no one asked:
What’s making your scalp sick?
Thankfully I don’t take medicine or else I don’t think I would be still here living with life threatening leaky muscle in its first year and 30+ other leaky barriers.
🦠 It Wasn’t Mental Illness. It Was Mould Illness.
Mould toxins, trauma, stress and systemic inflammation were all swirling in my body — and the cytokine storm was showing up through my scalp.
Not just my mood. Not just my mind.
My immune system was on fire — and no one saw it.
🌿 What Your Scalp Might Be Saying:
• “I’m drowning in internal inflammation.”
• “Your detox pathways are blocked.”
• “There’s a storm inside — and I’m sounding the alarm.”
• “It’s not just in your head — it’s on your head.”
🧠 Cytokines & the Hair-Brain Connection
Chronic inflammation — especially from mould, man made food triggers & healhty foods like spinach, beets, tomotoes to name a few or emotional trauma — can flood the body with cytokines that impact the scalp, thyroid, gut and nervous system.
And yet, we’re told it’s just stress.
Or worse — vanity.
No.
This isn’t about beauty.
This is about healing the immune system from the inside out.
🌼 Scalp-Saving Rituals That Helped Me:
• Mineral-rich water and trace minerals daily
• Gentle scalp massage with rosemary + castor oil
• Mould detox + HEPA filtration in my home
• Zinc, magnesium, and collagen from food
• Lymphatic movement to clear toxins
• Grieving and grounding to soothe nervous system storms
✨ You’re Not Losing Hair. You’re Losing Safety.
Your hair knows.
Your scalp knows.
And it’s time we listen with love, not shame.
💚 Your scalp might be flaking because your body is flaring.
But healing is possible.
And peace starts at the root.
