🌀 Day 18 – Leaky Stomach & Acid Storm
🔥 Gut-Lining Breakdown | #5 of 8 in the Leaky Body Syndrome Series
"If your belly is bloated, burning or in pain — your gut may be begging you to stop swallowing what’s hurting you." — Dee
💭 Did you know?
Your stomach isn’t just a food blender —
It’s your gut fire, acid alchemist and first warrior against invaders.
When it leaks, you don’t just burp —
You burn.
My stomach used to bloat after every meal.
I looked 6 months pregnant, is that you?
I burped a lot! I didn’t toot much though but the ex had toots that could
clear a room.
I’d wake with sharp pain, go to bed with fire in my chest.
Worse after arguments. Worse with stress and man-made food.
I couldn’t eat in peace.
I couldn’t rest.
I couldn’t trust my body.
It wasn’t just “too much acid” or “overeating.”
It was inflammation.
It was low stomach acid.
It was mould, trauma and nervous system dysregulation collapsing my digestion from the inside out.
😮💨 I used to pop antacids daily.
But no one told me acid reflux can come from too little stomach acid — not too much.
Or that undigested food ferments, bloats and feeds pathogens…
And pain is the body’s cry for support — not suppression.
💊 I struggled with reflux, burping and endless bloating.
I was told to take PPI meds (proton pump inhibitors) for life —
I did not as I don’t rely on medications or prescriptions.
I never got tested for H. pylori, mould exposure or stress hormones.
No one asked about trauma, posture or the vagus nerve.
➡️ Just meds, not root causes.
🧠 Leaky Stomach Clues I Missed for Years:
• Bloating after meals — even healthy ones
• Sharp stomach pain, especially after stress
• Constant belching or hiccups
• Acid reflux, especially when lying down
• “Burning” gut or sour taste in the mouth
• Gas, heaviness or feeling full too fast
• Anxiety right after eating
And what did they say?
“Try TUMS.”
“Take Nexium.”
“Maybe it's just nerves.”
But I’ve learned:
💡 You can’t heal your belly with bandaids.
💡 You can’t acid-block your way to peace.
💡 You must listen to the fire — not extinguish it blindly.
My stomach used to scream for help —
And I silenced it with pills, busy meals and swallowed stress.
Now, I listen.
🌬️ Recovery takes time.
It starts with slowing down, chewing more and honouring your gut fire.
Your body isn’t broken — it’s burned out.
But it can rebuild.
💜 What Your Leaky Stomach Might Be Saying:
• “I need time and space to process.”
• “Don’t rush me — I’m not ready to digest that.”
• “Stop feeding me fear with your food.”
• “This pain is protection. Please pause.”
• “Help me light the fire again — gently.”
✨ Rituals That Help My Stomach Heal:
• Chew 30+ times per bite — digestion starts in the mouth
• Warm lemon water or ginger tea before meals — gentle acid support
• Bitter herbs or apple cider vinegar (only if safe for you) — stimulate stomach acid
• Magnesium + trace minerals — calm nerves, ease cramping
• Meal spacing — no constant snacking to give your gut time to fully reset, I fast A LOT for autophagy and healing
• Lie on your left side post-meal to ease pressure on your stomach
• No food after sunset — honour your digestive circadian rhythm
• Journal: What am I not fully digesting emotionally?
🕊️ You’re not weak.
You’re wise.
And your belly pain may be a boundary asking to be heard.
With love & ginger steam,
Dee
