Day 2: Leaky Vagus Nerve - When You Can’t Relax, Digest or Feel Safe
Welcome to Day 2 of the Leaky Body Series — where we explore how trauma, toxins, and stress quietly leak peace from our internal systems.
Today, we’re tuning into your vagus nerve — your inner peace wire and the direct communication line between your brain, heart, lungs and gut.
Can you sit through an entire show without feeling the urge to get up and do something else? Or does restlessness take over, like you always need to be moving? Share in the comments — I used to feel that way too, until I started detoxing mould from my body. Curious if I’m the only one.
🧵 Leaky Vagus Nerve: When You Can’t Relax, Digest, or Feel Safe — You’re Disconnected
If you’ve struggled with:
Constant internal buzzing or anxiety
Digestive issues like bloating or IBS
Shallow breathing or feeling like you can’t exhale
Emotional numbness or intense reactivity
Feeling stuck in overthinking or fatigue
You're not weak or broken — you’re disconnected from your body's natural peace pathway.
🧠 The Vagus Nerve: Your Body’s Peace Pathway
The vagus nerve is the main channel of your parasympathetic nervous system — the “rest and digest” part of your body.
But if you grew up in survival mode, this peace wire may have become frayed, inflamed, or silent.
💧Where Peace Leaks from the Vagus Nerve:
Panic attacks
Bloating or nausea
Irregular heartbeat
Insomnia
Emotional numbness
Chronic fatigue
🦠 What Causes a Leaky Vagus Nerve?
Childhood trauma or early neglect
Mould, toxins, or heavy metals
Long-term high-stress environments
Birth trauma or surgeries
Poor gut health (gut and vagus are deeply linked)
Unresolved grief or repressed emotion
⚠️ Often Misdiagnosed As:
Panic Disorder
Depression
ADHD
GI Disorders
Chronic Illness
"Overreacting" or "too sensitive"
But these are not flaws. They’re signals. Your vagus nerve may be crying for reconnection.
🌿 Healing Your Peace Pathway
🧘♀️ De-Stress Tip:
Hum or Chant “OM” for 3 minutes.
This vibrates the vagus nerve and calms the entire nervous system.
🍃 De-Tox Tip:
Drink peppermint or ginger tea.
Soothing herbs support vagal flow and gut-brain harmony.
💨 De-Bloat Tip:
Do 3 belly breaths before meals.
This activates digestion and signals safety to the gut.
🧹 Declutter Tip:
10 minutes of silence a day.
Turn off your phone. Sit. Breathe. Feel. This strengthens vagal tone.
🌙 Sleep Tip:
Massage behind your ears and neck.
These areas stimulate the vagus nerve to calm the mind.
🕊️ Quote of the Day:
"When you restore the rhythm of your breath, you restore the rhythm of your life."
