🌀 Day 20 of 40 – Leaky Colon & Digestive Exhaustion
💩 Constipation, Loose Stools & IBS | #5 of 8 in the Leaky Body Syndrome Series
"If you’re swinging between stuck and explosive, your colon might be begging for nervous system repair — not just more fibre." — Dee
💭 Did you know?
Your colon isn’t just a poop chute —
It’s your final detox tunnel, emotional release valve and hydration checkpoint.
When it leaks or stalls, your whole system backs up — physically and emotionally.
I used to go from stuck for days to sudden loose stools.
My belly would balloon, then cramp, then purge.
Worse with stress. Worse with sugar or tension.
Worse after betrayal, burnout or boundary-breaking.
Worse in mouldy environments where I worked and played at Alogonquin, YMCA and an ex’s mouldy home.
It wasn’t “just IBS” or “getting older.”
It was trauma trapped in my colon.
It was inflammation, dysbiosis and nervous system collapse turning digestion into a storm.
😮💨 I used to push and strain, chug fibre drinks, blame my food.
No one told me the vagus nerve affects peristalsis.
That safety regulates motility.
That pooping peacefully is a privilege of a soothed nervous system.
💊 I tried probiotics, laxatives and food lists.
But no one asked about mould.
No one looked at my sleep, my trauma or my microbiome.
➡️ Just fibre — not feelings.
Just rules — not root causes.
🧠 Leaky Colon Clues I Missed for Years
• Constipation with belly pain or pressure
• Sudden urgent loose stools — or both cycling unpredictably
• Mucus, undigested food, or blood in stools
• Feeling incomplete after pooping
• Skin flares or headaches after going — or not going
• Anxiety or depression tied to bowel habits
And what did they say?
“Add Metamucil.”
“Eat more bran.”
“Maybe it’s just stress.”
But I’ve learned:
💡 You can’t heal a leaky colon with just more fibre.
💡 You can’t detox when you’re inflamed, dehydrated or dysregulated.
💡 You must create safety — emotionally and biologically — for your colon to let go.
My colon taught me to slow down.
To stop pushing. To feel. To soften.
Because sometimes a “stuck colon” is really a stuck story.
🌬️ Recovery takes time.
It starts with hydration, stillness and releasing control.
You’re not clogged — you’re carrying too much.
💜 What Your Leaky Colon Might Be Saying
• “I’m holding what no one helped me release.”
• “I can’t move forward without feeling safe.”
• “Please stop rushing me.”
• “You don’t need to force me — I just need fluid, fibre and peace.”
• “I need your nervous system to soften so I can let go.”
✨ Rituals That Help My Colon Heal
• Warm water + sea salt in the morning to hydrate your inner hose
• Magnesium citrate or glycinate to relax muscles + ease elimination
• Ground flax or chia (if tolerated) to bind and sweep gently, I also mix some chia seeds in water and shake it up and let it sit for minimum of 4hrs or overnight to have after last meal of the day and if really constipated you could have it after each meal. I am an OMAD eater.
• Castor oil packs over the belly for flow and lymphatic movement
• Gentle belly massage, squatting or feet elevated during bowel movements
• Vagal toning: hum, gargle, splash cold water on your face
• Deep rest — especially after emotional stress
• Journal: “What am I still holding that I’m afraid to release?”
🕊️ You’re not broken.
You’re brave.
And your colon might be the last place your story is still asking to be felt, honoured and set free.
With love & smooth moves,
Dee
