🌀 Day 29 of 40 – Leaky Thyroid & Foggy Fatigue
🩸 Cold sensitivity, thinning hair & brain fog Endocrine & Hormonal System — #7 of 8 in the Leaky Body Syndrome Series
“You’re not lazy, cold or forgetful — your thyroid is tired from carrying the weight of all you’ve held in.”
~ De-Stress With Dee
💭 Did you know?
Your thyroid is a delicate butterfly-shaped gland that controls your metabolism, energy, mood and body temperature.
But trauma, mould, toxins, EMFs and nutrient depletion can cause it to slow down — especially when your nervous system is in freeze mode.
I didn’t just have brain fog or bad hair days.
I was tired to the bone, freezing in the summer and forgetting words I used to know.
I wasn’t falling apart — I was falling under the weight of unprocessed stress.
😓 My thyroid whispers included:
• Cold hands, feet or nose — even in warm weather
• Thinning hair or outer third of eyebrows fading
• Weight gain with no explanation
• Slow digestion, constipation or bloating
• Brain fog, poor memory or mix-ups
• Depression or emotional flatness
• Menstrual changes or infertility
• Fatigue that didn’t go away with rest
No one asked if I’d had childhood stress, long-term antibiotic use or exposure to mould.
No one told me that your thyroid listens to your trauma.
☕ I used to fix it with stimulants or crash diets —
but those were just loud distractions over a very soft cry for support.
Your thyroid doesn’t need a bootcamp.
It needs warmth, nourishment and nervous system repair.
💡 What I now understand:
• The thyroid slows down when your body no longer feels safe
• Brain fog is often inflammation, not stupidity
• Starvation, stress and shame are thyroid poison
• Softness and steady rhythms restore thyroid balance
🧠 What My Thyroid Was Trying to Say:
• “I’m cold because I’m scared”
• “I’m tired because I’ve been running on empty”
• “I’m losing hair because I’m losing safety”
• “Please feed me kindness, not control”
• “I want warmth — inside and out”
🌿 Thyroid Healing Rituals That Helped Me:
• Warming teas: ginger, cinnamon, licorice root
• Seaweed, iodine-rich foods and selenium sources (like Brazil nuts)
• Epsom salt baths for magnesium and circulation
• Mindful movement like yin yoga or slow walks
• Red light therapy or morning sunlight on skin
• Reducing cold/raw foods and focusing on warm, cooked meals
• Journal prompt:
“Where am I freezing my truth or withholding warmth from myself?”
🕊️ You’re not broken or behind.
You’re healing in slow motion — the safest speed your body knows.
Wrap yourself in warmth. Speak gently. Move slowly. You’re doing it right.

🌿 Daily Thyroid Healing Tools for Warmth & Clarity
This is not about pushing through. It’s about restoring your rhythms and reclaiming your warmth.
1. Morning Rituals for Energy & Calm:
Drink warm lemon or ginger tea before food to spark digestion
Expose skin to morning light for circadian balance
Eat a warm, protein-rich breakfast — eggs, oats with ghee, or cooked fruit with cinnamon
Whisper: “I’m safe to move at the pace of peace.”
2. Midday Support:
Pause to rub castor oil or warm compresses over your thyroid or belly
Snack on selenium-rich foods like Brazil nuts or seaweed crisps
Place hands over your heart and belly, breathe in warmth, exhale fog
Stretch gently or go for a short walk to move lymph and reduce stagnation
3. Evening Reset:
Take an Epsom salt bath with 1–2 drops of ginger or lavender oil
Sip licorice root or cinnamon tea to soothe adrenals and thyroid
Journal prompt: “Where have I been holding back my voice or truth?”
Wind down with slow yin yoga, gentle humming or soft lighting — no screens
4. Throughout the Day:
Avoid cold or raw foods — choose cooked, warming meals like stews or soups
Limit stimulants like caffeine, which can inflame and deplete
Use a red light panel or gentle morning sun for 5–10 mins on your neck
Speak kindly to yourself — foggy doesn’t mean failing
You’re not behind — you’re honouring your healing pace.
Let every bite, breath and word be warm and nourishing.
