Did you know?
If your feet didn’t feel safe to stand still or rooted as a child, your brain may have hardwired your body for flight — not rest.
And if you were raised in a home where stress filled the air, your feet may have learned to stay on high alert — always ready to run, freeze, or tiptoe around tension.
👣 Welcome to Day 4 of the Leaky Body Series
Where we explore how trauma, toxins, and tension silently leak peace from your nervous system — one body part at a time.
Today, we drop down into your feet — the foundation of your body’s safety.
Feet are more than transportation.
They carry your entire weight — physically and emotionally.
And for trauma survivors?
They often carry decades of survival signals, hypervigilance and ancestral grief.
👣 Leaky Feet: Somatic Clues
Cold, sweaty, or numb feet
Ankle pain or chronic instability
Restless legs at night
Flat feet or tight arches
Feeling disconnected from your body
Tripping or dragging feet when tired
These aren’t just posture problems.
They’re somatic survival patterns.
When you’ve never truly felt grounded in your life, your feet don’t either.
🦶 Where Peace Leaks Through the Feet
Always “on the go” or can’t sit still
Avoiding rest or relaxing your body weight
Trouble standing up for yourself
Fear of being still, quiet, or seen
Tight calves, locked knees, or clenching toes
🌪️ What Causes Leaky Feet?
Chronic childhood stress (especially firstborn “parentified” kids)
Always walking on eggshells
Unsafe or unstable housing or homes
Generational trauma stored in posture
Mould, toxins, or poor circulation
Nervous system stuck in freeze-or-flee
⚠️ Often Misdiagnosed As:
Plantar fasciitis
Restless leg syndrome
Circulatory issues
Insomnia or “just tired”
Flat feet or weak ankles
But leaky feet aren’t just mechanical.
They’re emotional.
Feet that don’t feel safe will never let the rest of you relax.
🌿 Healing the Feet of Peace
🧘♀️ De-Stress Tip:
Roll your bare feet on a tennis or lacrosse ball for 2–3 minutes.
Notice the tender spots — those are your unspoken memories.
🧂 De-Tox Tip:
Soak your feet in warm water with Epsom salts and 2 drops of tea tree or lavender oil.
Imagine releasing tension through your soles.
🌀 De-Freeze Tip:
March in place for 1 minute. Then stomp gently.
Let your body feel its own strength.
🌙 Sleep Tip:
Massage the tops and bottoms of your feet with magnesium lotion before bed.
Tell your body: “It’s safe to rest now.”
🚪 Declutter Tip:
Take a barefoot, mindful walk around your home.
Feel each step. This is how you return home to your body.
🥬 De-Bloat Tip:
Use your thumb to press into the arch of your left foot in a slow, clockwise motion for 30 seconds.
This reflex point connects to your intestines and can support digestion.
Sip warm ginger tea after for added relief.
💥 Personal Note:
I had one of the worst cases of plantar fasciitis for decades — torn tendons, bone spurs, constant inflammation.
All my jobs kept me on my feet, so surgery wasn’t an option — and it was only a 50/50 chance it would work.
What helped? Shock therapy and reducing inflammation.
But what’s truly changing everything now?
Detoxing mould and healing my leaky body.
I still dream of running again — maybe even at the senior Olympics.
My childhood dream was to go to the Olympics.
And maybe… it’s not too late (-;
💞 Are you a firstborn protector, trauma-born or raised in a chronically stressed home?
