Sober Soul Care Sunday: Healing Cravings, Cooling Chaos & Finding Sleep Without a Fan
If your cravings are calling the shots, your inner child is probably still screaming.
Fast food, fans, wine, workouts — none of it is harmless when your nervous system is on fire.
This Sunday, I’m sharing what finally gave me peace after decades of insomnia, addiction and surviving a mouldy storm.
Fast food might be comfort after emotional chaos.
Wine may numb the ache of unmet needs. Fans blasting through sleepless nights aren’t just about temperature — they’re survival rituals from a body stuck in fight-or-flight.
Even excessive workouts can be a trauma response disguised as discipline.
When your nervous system is inflamed (from trauma, mold exposure, chronic stress), these patterns aren’t simply habits — they’re protective loops.
The problem is, they keep the body hot, anxious, restless and disconnected from peace.
It’s not about shame or judgment. It’s about realizing that healing means listening deeper — beyond the craving — to what your system is truly asking for.
You’re not alone if you feel ruled by:
🍔 Fast food & sugar
🍷 Booze & pills
📱 Porn & video games
💪 Overexercising after illness
🛍️ Shopping, pop, ice cream — anything to numb the ache
After 58 years of soaked sheets and fan-blasting insomnia, I finally sleep like a baby — no fan, no heatwave, no spinning thoughts. The missing piece?
Detoxing mould and trauma from my tissues.
And remembering that peace starts in the nervous system, not the product aisle.
