The Calm After the Cytokine Storm 🌿
This week marks 413 Sundays of Addiction Peace since I let go of booze, soda and toxic foods. My lifelong eating disorders were not about willpower — they were rooted in toxic environments I lived in since birth, starting in my mother’s womb.
One year into healing leaky muscles, brain, body — and more than 40 leaky barriers — I can walk without a cane. My internal bleeding since 2013, IBS, arthritis, sleep struggles, menopause, ADHD and mental health battles have disappeared as chronic inflammation melted away.
For decades, I thought I had “mental illness.” But the truth was:
👉 My body was leaking stress + trauma.
👉 My environment was making me sick (mould, toxins, sick buildings).
👉 My addictions were never the problem — they were a response to pain stored in my tissues.
Addiction peace is not just sobriety — it’s learning how to eat again without fear after a lifetime of eating disorders and food fears.
It’s the foundation of the Buddha Berry Peace Tree Method:
restoring our microbiome, healing fatty liver and leaky bodies and reclaiming a life of deep, mindful inner peace.
As parentified first-borns, we never learned self-care.
Instead, we became perfectionists, overachievers, stress-cleaners and people-pleasers — carrying the weight of an abusive mother, an absent father and burdens that were never ours to hold.
It’s choosing peace for your microbiome, liver and soul.
It’s protecting your nervous system like your life depends on it — because it does.

When the urge hits for sugar, booze or toxic foods—pause.
Remember your why.
My first why was my son.
Now, my why is me—protecting my peace in all ways.
Also, be mindful of H.A.L.T.
When we’re Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired, we’re vulnerable.
These unmet inner child needs often drive our addiction of choice— not because we’re weak but because we’re trying to distract our depression.
