Some of us learned very young to become the fixer.
Are you the finder of all things in your home too fellow health detective? :)
We learned to notice everyone’s moods.
To keep the peace.
To help.
To protect.
To be responsible.
To make things better.
Some boys learned another version of the same survival role.
Become strong.
Become the protector.
Don’t complain.
Don’t need too much.
Fix the problem.
Carry it yourself.
Different roles.
Same exhaustion.
And sometimes the people who become the strongest at holding everyone else together quietly forget that they are allowed to be held, too.
That’s part of what I’m exploring this week through the DBM-5 Womb • Walls • Wounds • Worries Detox on Youtube.
What did we inherit?
What did we learn?
What did we survive?
And perhaps most importantly:
Is this actually mine?
Because you were not born guilty.
You were taught to carry what was never yours.
And you can learn to put it down.
Tomorrow is September 10 — World Suicide Prevention Day.
