Trauma Talk Tuesday Lifesaving Tip for your Toolbox
đŠ The Mould-Momma Connection
Dear Serene Souls,
đ Itâs International Nurses Weekâa time when the world pauses to recognize the compassion, courage, and care that nurses give every day. But what if, behind the brave face, you're silently suffering?
If you're a nurse, a mama, or bothâfirst, I want to bow deeply to your resilience.
You pour from a cup that often feels empty.
You give healing to others, even while your own body whispers for help.
This week, in honour of your sacred work, Iâm offering a lifesaving trauma-informed tip for your healing toolboxâbecause sometimes, what looks like burnout... is actually something more dangerous, more invisible, and more solvable than you think.
đ©ș Could Mould Be the Missing Link?
What if your symptoms are being causedâor worsenedâby mold exposure in your home, workplace, or even your childâs daycare?
I know. It sounds like something you'd smell.
But often, you canât see it, you canât smell itâand you might not even suspect it.
Especially if youâve already been diagnosed with:
IBS or gut problems
Anxiety or depression
Hormonal imbalance
Autoimmune issues
PTSD or CPTSD
Mould toxicity can mimic them all.
đ§ Trauma, Mould, and the Inflamed Nervous System
Hereâs the thing most doctors donât tell you:
If you have a history of traumaâespecially childhood or complex traumaâyour nervous system is already inflamed.
And mould is a neurotoxin.
It inflames the same systems already on high alert from trauma.
Thatâs why you may be more sensitive than others in your household or at work.
Your body isnât being dramaticâitâs being wise. Itâs screaming softly:
âSomething in here is hurting me.â
đ Simple Red Flags That Mould Might Be the Culprit:
You feel worse at home or work, but better when you travel or take time away
You or your children have frequent sinus, gut or skin issues
You feel like youâre walking through mental fog or quicksand
Youâre always tiredâeven with rest
You smell mustiness, or had water damage, even years ago
đŹ Why Standard Labs Miss It (and What to Do)
Most traditional labs wonât flag mould exposure.
Thatâs why so many trauma-informed women are misdiagnosedâor dismissed altogether.
But donât worry. Iâve got you.
You can start by:
Tracking your symptoms when away from home or work
Using low-cost ERMI or mould plates to test your space
Supporting your bodyâs detox with binders, teas, breath and peace
I will have links for you during next weeks peace retreat.
𧰠Lifesaving Tip for Your Trauma-Healing Toolbox:
âYour body isnât betraying youâitâs begging you to remove whatâs hurting it.
Start by checking your environment for mould and toxins.â
đ± You're not lazy. You're not broken. You're not overreacting.
You're a sensitive soul in a toxic worldâbravely waking up to your truth.
This Nurses Week, please take a moment to put your hand over your heart and ask:
Could mould be weighing me down?

đ Nurse-mamas, has your body been whispering to you lately?
Tell me one symptom youâve brushed off as ânormal burnoutâ â letâs start unlearning together.
đŠ Ever feel better when you leave your home or workplace⊠but canât explain why?
Hospitals are often mouldy. So are older homes, daycares and schools.
That âreliefâ you feel when you leave?
It might be your body finally breathing.
đŒ To the healers who never get to rest:
What does rest actually look like for you?
Or⊠is that still a foreign word?
